Probably the only good thing was the price, which would qualify the hotel as backpackers - quality-unconscious budget.
Well, a correct description would be crummy : crummy room, smallish, dirty carpet, traces of dirt on the walls, old bathroom, smelly cupboards, ac stinks (we choose to be cold at night instead of breathing the smell of burning circuits from the ac). No lights in the parking lot of the hotel, which is actually the interior space inside the u shaped building. Breakfast is outside, in the cold, from 7 to 9 am sharp so all guests can enjoy the chilly morning air - but don't worry, the front desk staff doesn't bother to open till noon, even if you need something ... And don't hope breakfast will be special - if it can be called that with bread, yogurt, a few fruits milk and cheese, all mediocre tasting. We've been traveling for the last three weeks over the us changing hotels daily and frankly, this hotel was the worst we've had.
Close to the Freeway
Beds were uncomfortable. The cable box light was so bright we had to cover it with a towel. I was charged for three rooms even though I cancelled one of them several days before arriving. Still not sure that I've been credited for the extra room.
My wife and I enjoyed the open air breakfast . We ate all we wanted and watched the trains go by - very nice
If your are looking for high tech, luxury, elegance... Then keep driving. If however like me you let your mind travel back to simpler times of driving through small friendly towns with roadside motels along old Route 66 and being greeted warmly and personaly by the motel owner and treated like family... Then the Grand is for you. A great value, nostalgic little place built in the 1920's, comfortable and quaint. I loved the outdoor breakast, a little bit of everything from fruit and ceral to lovely pastries and coffe. A great conversation grouping of comfy chairs where I chatted with the most delightful people from all over the world. Then drove to the Grand Canyon for my days. What a great trip.
This small motel was delightful. Staff was knowledgable of the area and very friendly. Although old, the rooms were very clean, comfortable, and odor free. It was not what I expected at all and I would definitely stay here again. On the plus side, it is located just off the interstate at the gateway route into the Grand Canyon. Easy on/off the freeway and the park just over an hour away.
I was disappointed with the advertised "breakfast buffet." It is really just a continental breakfast, not a terribly good one at that. Everything else was wonderful.
The morning breakfast. It was very good and I talked with the owner and other guest and had a good time.
The shower curtain was dirty and bothered my wife.
Small suite was very good. The provided outdoor breakfast was cute.
Check in took about 45 seconds. The owner is a great person, very pleasant and was a pleasure to meet. The outdoor breakfast bar is awesome and the owner is always present for great conversations. This historic motel is simply historic and a wonderful place. I would highly recommend the Grand and I will stay here again when traveling through Williams, Arizona.
Tolerable was the mattress, it was a bit old and not as comfy as I like. The towels were a bit rough but again tolerable. Not much to dislike once you feel the welcome and friendship from the owners. Wonderful people and such a pleasure to meet.
The host is truly a friendly host, as he advertises, and provides a fabulous breakfast, even if it is served outside in the courtyard (i.e. parking lot of the motel). Some may find the colours a bit garish, but they are quite fun. Bonus: the motel is across the road from a laundromat. Also easy walking distance from shops, restaurants, and train station. (Williams is hardly huge.)
It was a very cozy suite. It doesn't have a tub but has a nice shower with plenty of hot water.
We did not like anything about the Grand Motel. It is very, very old and not kept up at all. Do not recommend this motel at all!!!! Nothing about it was acceptable....only needed a few hours of sleep and would have prefered sleeping in the car.
The owner is very affable, smart and funny .The bathroom was not clean with "hair of different lengths and color in the shower and on the bathroom floor". That was not acceptable. There was no bath tub plug to take a bath. The owner informed me that they were stolen and to use a "wash towel". That was not an acceptable alternative. The location is very good and I probably would not stay there again.
Great breakfast + very friendly staff + perfect location = perfect place to stay
The only thing that I liked was the close parking just,a few feet from the door.
The room had no counter space and the bed was very hard, the bathroom was very small and hot water took about 2 or 3 minutes to get to the shower. The lighting was very bad I had to use a flashlight to see inside my bags.
Quaint, close to Grand Canyon
Parking was really tight
